How to check a 35 × 45 mm passport photo ratio
Separate image ratio checks from official face and background requirements.
Why this order matters
A 35 × 45 mm image has a 7:9 overall ratio. Matching that ratio alone does not guarantee compliance: official rules may also cover face size, expression, background, recency and print quality.
Check the destination first
If the receiving website or authority publishes its own format and size requirements, follow those instructions first. Keep the original and work on a copy.
Recommended workflow
- Check whether the pixel width and height are close to a 7:9 ratio.
- If needed, crop the edges while keeping the face centred.
- Review the latest passport-photo rules for the relevant country or authority.
Checks before saving
- Do not stretch the whole image to force the ratio.
- An on-screen ratio check does not guarantee physical print size.
- An automated check cannot replace an authority’s final review.
Zoom in on the result and open it once in the environment where it will be used. Automated calculations and conversions are convenient reference tools, not a substitute for the receiving organisation’s final decision.
